We had the pleasure to be invited along for the presentation of Design by Shanghai in the Royal Opera House. Basically, it consisted of Chinese Designer’s showcasing their work to the press and buyers in an uh-mazing environment. I mean, I could totally see Chanel doing a show at the Royal Opera House. From absolutely amazing jewellery by designer Hefang Sun to little animal bags, they definitely delivered. The show and the presentations were organised by a program that helps designers in China – ” Shanghai Fashion Designers Association ” (www.shfda.org.cn) . It aims to present the new up and coming talent to an international industry and change the tedious “Made in China” to a “Designed in China” label. However, the idea is built on a mutual relationship, not only does SFDA want to promote their talent to outside of China, but the aim is also to attract international designers to Shanghai Fashion Week.
Designers in no particular order : Hefang Sun, DU YANG, Sankuanz, Dong/Liang, Ji Cheng, Dan, Luminiferous Aether, Xisushangei, Stella Lam, Renaître.
